Funeral Services for Mrs. Dottris Rhymes will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King in Bastrop, LA. Rev. Norselles Holmes Jr. will be the officiant. Mrs. Rhymes, a retired dietician of the Morehouse Parish School System passed quietly on November 13, 2015 at her residence.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.                                                Timothy 4:7-8

       Sister Dottris Rhymes was born Monday, November 21, 1921 in Quitman, Texas to Evas and Henrietta Ingram.  Raised up with two brothers and two sisters, Dottris accepted Christ at an early age and developed a kind, loving spirit.

          She united in holy matrimony to Joe Rhymes on Tuesday, June 1, 1943. Two sons, Raymond and Larry Rhymes, were born to this union.  She worked for many years in the Morehouse Parish School System and served as a faithful mother at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.  She enjoyed life with family and friends and was well known in the community for her cooking and her big heart!

On Friday, November 13, 2015, God called Sister Dottris home to glory.  She joins in heaven her mother and father, her loving husband and both sons.  She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-in-law, Ola Mae Rhymes, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, one nephew and two special Godchildren, Reverend Cleveland and Sister Mattie Holmes, and many dear friends.
