​Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Lee Rivers are slated for Saturday, September 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. The services will be held at the St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop with Rev. Earvin Washington serving as officiant. The Interment  will be at H. V. Adams Cemetery. A resident of Bastrop and a former employee of the Morehouse Parish School System Mrs. Rivers passed at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano, Texas.

​She is survivied by four sons: James McKinnon of North Carolina, Wilbert McKinnon of Detroit, MI, Michael Rivers and Billy Rivers of Dallas, TX; three daughters:Odnea Scott of Detroit, MI, Deborah Ranier of North Carolinsa, and Angela Rivers of Dallas, TX; two sisters: Mary Helen McMillan of North Carolina and Leona Chavis of North Carolina.
