The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Helen Johnson Worley, 80, is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. The service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Don Taylor, officiating. The interment will follow the service in H. V. Adams cemetery. Wake services will be held on Friday evening, October 30th in the Loche's Mortuary chapel. Loche’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Worley was a retired insurance agent.
On a cool Wednesday, January 9, 1935 to be exact, Lawyer and Emma Hampton Johnson were blessed with thier first girl child. She would be the oldest of six children born to the Johnson union. They named her Helen. Her siblings loved her dearly and affectionately called her “Sister”. On a chilly Sunday evening, Ocotber 25, 2015, to be exact, Helen stepped from mortality to immortality.
Helen was an active member of St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church until her health started to fail. She raised her children there and served on numerous committees.
In 1951, Helen became the beautiful bride of Gene Worley. To this union, eight children were born: three boys and five girls.
Helen loved to cook. And, cook she did. Sweet potato pies, pecan pies, pound cakes, greens, and dressing, just to name a few. She was also a caregiver to her siblings and her parents.
On Sunday, October 25, 2015, Helen transitioned to her heavenly home to be greeted by many loved ones; her husband, Gene Worley; her sons, Bennie, Richard, and Jimmy; her daughters: Linda and Helen; her parents Lawyer Johnson and Emma Hampton; and her brothers , Willie Johnson, Jessie Johnson, George Hampton, and David Charles Hampton.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving ways, and her awesome spirit, : three grateful daughters, Edna Higgins (James) of Lithonia , GA, Callie Worley of Acworth, GA, and Rose Worley of Bastrop, LA; seven grandchildren, Shawnte’ Butler (Chad) of Clinton, MS, Tangy Lipscomb (William) of Decatur, GA, Kiesha Parker (Eric) of Snellville, GA, Jimmy C. Worley of Bastrop, LA, Gina Worley of Lewisville, TX, Jessica Worley of Acworth, GA, and Sterling Andrews of Clinton, MS;; fourteen great grandchildren; Jordan, Langston, Kennedy, Eric II, Kierra, Noah, Jackson, Dylan, Kameron, Je’Miya, Jimmy Jr.,Olivia, Hunter, and Savannah; one sister, Kara Hatfield; her nieces, Audrey and Sandra; her nephews Gary,Charles, Malcolm, Jessie, David Charles, Charles, Richard, and George Darren. and friends far too numerous to mention.
