Funeral Services for Jackie Ray Davenport, 63, will be held on Saturday, April   2, 2016 at 11:00 p.m. The services will be held at the Greater Magnolia Baptist Church.  Rev. Mozell Smith, Jr. will be the officiating minister.  Interment will follow the services in Henry V. JACKIE RAY DAVENPORT       

Brother Jackie Ray Davenport was born on December 2, 1952 in Mer Rouge, LA to the union of  Jack and Lillie Bell Carr Davenport.  On Tuesday, March 29, 2016 Jackie stepped from mortality into immortality.

Jackie accepted Christ at an early age at the New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. I. J. Jordan. He married and united with the Greater Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Louie Wroten. He later fellowshiped with other congregations in the community.

Jackie, affectionally known as "Jack" or "Jackie Ray" was a warm humble person with a big heart and a giving spirit. He never met a stranger. He attended Morehouse High School and graduated from Our Lady Help of Christian School in 1971. He was employed for many years at Georgia Pacific Paper Operations.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Angie Vashawndra Davenport, and two brothers, Larry Davenport and Clifton Davenport.

Jackie was united in Holy Matrimony to Gwendolyn Johnson who will cherish his memories.  Jackie will be remembered by his children: Jackie Davenport II, Atlanta, GA, Misty Davenport Griffin (Kevin) Houston, TX, Jimmye DeLawrence Davenport, Bastrop, LA, and Mark Lanier, Houston, Tx; one grandson, Caleb Washington, Houston, TX; one goddaughter, Vashawndra Wilson, Dallas, TX, one godson, Brian Smith, Bastrop, LA, three sisters: Shirley Simonton (Eddie), Sandra Lawall of Houston, TX, Debrah Davis (Larry), Bastrop, LA; three brothers: Allen Davenport (Reba) amd Kenneth Davenport (Janice) of Detroit, MI and Donald Davenport (Dorothy) of Bastrop, LA, his stepmother, Ollie Davenport of Detroit, MI; one aunt, Lizzie Smith of Bastrop, lA, one uncle, Willie West of Muskegon MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
