Mack "Boone" McKinnon Burks, Jr.

Funeral Services for  Mack Burks, Jr. of Mer Rouge will be held at the Morehouse Baptist Association Building on the Collinston Road on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the interment following the services at the Jerusalem Cemetery.  Rev. Cedrick Winston will be officiating the services.  Wake services will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 in the chapel of Loche’s Mortuary.  Loche’s Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of the services.

A Celebration of Life

Bro. Mack Burks, Jr. was born April 14, 1953 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana to Mack Burks, Sr. and Gertie Marie Burks.  On December 23, 2016 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones, "Boone" as he was fondly called stepped from mortality to immortality . He was preceded in death by his brother, Quinon Morgan, Sr., his paternal grandparents, Esau and Lizzie Burks, and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Earline Morgan.

He joined the Eudora Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. W. J. Hardy. He was employed in the medical field at Oak Woods Nursing Home and Morehouse General Hospital for several years.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter:Nekeida Miller of Sterlington, LA, and one son, Michael Dowles of Bastrop, LA; his parents, Mack and Marie Burks of Mer Rouge, LA; eight brothers: Alonzo (Debra), Crossett, AK, Charles (Brenda), Austin, TX, Roy (Debra) Lockhart, TX, Larry, Mer Rouge, LA, Billy (Patricia), Mer Rouge, LA, Anthony (Lisa) Austin, TX, Patrick (Brenda), Dallas, TX, and Keith, Minor, TX; two sisters, Sheline Massey, Houston, TX and Dede Massey, Monroe, LA; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
