Margaret Jenkins Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Jenkins Smith have been slated for Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Mozell Smith, Jr. will be the officiating minister.  Interment will be in the H. V. Adams Cemetery. 

On December 2, 1930, Tommy and Magnolia Jenkins of Mer Rouge, LA were blessed with a beautiful girl child. To this child was given the name, Margaret. Margaret confessed her belief in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F. M. Moore where she remained a faithful and dedicated member until her health failed. On September 28, 2015 at St. Francis Specialty Hospital at a little past nine in the morning, Margaret Jenkins Smith stepped from mortality into immortality.

In 1946 Margaret Jenkins was united in holy matrimony to the late Mozell Smith, Sr. Mozell and Margaret were blessed with eleven children. Two of them, Bishop and Dale Allen preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers: Robert, Willie, and Huey P. Jenkins; two sisters, Lelia Mae Jackson and Ruby Jenkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her kind and loving ways, and her beautiful smile, nine grateful children: Lois Armstrong (Harper), Rev. Mozell Smith, Jr. (Janice), Willie Ray Smith (Betty), Bobbie Armstrong, James Alan Smith, Donald and Ronald Smith, all of Bastrop, LA; Mary Smith and Hallie Freeman of Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Mary Jenkins of Houston, TX and Peccolia Jenkins Moore of St. Louis, MO; twenty six grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Serving as active pallbearers are: Fred Hatfield, Cory Lollie, Darvin Slater, Winston Williams, and Norwood Wimberly.  The honorary pallbearers are Roy Armstrong, Jr., Marcus Lee, Willie R. Smith, Jr., Burley L. Smith, Rontavious Rabun, Ronald Binns,  Brian Smith, Donald Smith, Ronald Smith, Mozell Smith, Jr., Willlie Ray Smith, Sr., James Alan Smith and the deacons of Greater Magnolia and St. Luke Missionary Baptist Churches.
