OBITUARY

Carlette Evon Odom Toney, Hanna, as she was fondly called, was born in Bonita, Louisiana to the Mrs. Leola Hill Odom and the late James L. Odom on November 16, 1952. A domestic engineer, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, reading, and writing, and definitely singing. Her melodious voice was her signature in  many churches in Morehouse Parish.  During a service, especially when a prayer of supplication was being given by deacons, her beautiful voice could heard delivering an old "Dr. Watt" that would send chills up and down your spine. Her great love was serving her God and people. On Sunday, November 20, 2016 Carlette stepped from mortality into immortality at the Full Gospel Ministry Church in Bonita and joined friends and loved ones who have gone on before.

Carlette accepted Christ at an early age at the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. H. E.Smith. She received her education in the public schools of Morehouse Parish.

In an auspicious ceremony, she was united in Holy Wedlock to the love of her life, Tommie R. Toney.

She leaves to treasure her memories, a devoted husband, Tommie R. Toney, a loving mother, Mrs. Leola Hill Odom, four brothers, Emmitt Odom, Sr. (Lenzie) of Bastrop, Ivory James Odom (Alice) of Florissant, MO, Theabury Odom, Sr. (Linda) of Bastrop, LA, and Michael Odom of Indiana; six sisters sisters: Dessie Dantzler (Samuel) of Inglewood,CA  Bernate Toney (James), Bastrop, LA, Bastrop, Alice Stewart (Roan), Homewood, IL, Alma Montgomery, (Eddie) Bastrop, LA, and Teretha Pierson of Bastrop, LA, and Willette Banner of Chicago, IL, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
