The Bible Reader
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” Genesis 1:20
Bonita, Louisiana is a small rural village in northeast Louisiana in 1940. It's about eleven miles from Wilmot, Arkansas and about twelve miles from Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Just like Wilmot and Mer Rouge, Bonita was a farming village. Tresvant and Delia Lightfoot Causey, like other residents of small villages like Bonita, lived on and off the land. They reared their children there, loved them, and instilled in them their love for God. One of these blessed children was a little girl, born June 27, 1940. Like Bonita which means "beautiful," this beautiful little girl was given the name "Albirda," which means "noble, bird-like, beautiful, lover of freedom, always ready to soar to great heights. So describes Albirda Causey.
Albirda grew up in a home filled with love and a profound belief in God. Her love for people and caring for them prompted her to seek Nursing as a profession. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, caring for those who needed her gentle touch and kind smile. For thirty-three years, she unselfishly gave her time and energy to the infirmed at Morehouse General Hospital. This was her calling. This was her passion. Her understanding heart, her comforting touch endeared her to her children, her family her patient.
Even though she cared for her patients and often family members, the joys of her life were her children, Lorenzo and Sylvia. As they grew into adulthood and blessed her with children, that joy spread to "her grandbabies." She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Now, Albirda loved reading the Bible daily. She had different versions of the Bible was determined to finish one by the end of the year. She was able to share scriptures and words of wisdom with her children and all those she met.
On September 29, 2024, this beautiful bird, took flight, soaring above the cares of this world, and joining loved ones. Noble, beautiful, soaring to great heights.
This was Albirda Causey.
