Funeral Services for Ms. Bernice Minnieweather, well-known local resident, will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Morehouse Baptist Education Association Building at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Johnny Green will serve as the officiant.  The interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2023, in the Loche's Mortuary chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To send words of condolence, flowers, plants, or light a candle, kindly do so to your left.

March 1, 1941, fell on a Saturday in the small farming community of Bonita, Louisiana.  Most folks around Bonita looked forward to a day of rest, church the following day, and then back to work on Monday.  But this Saturday would be a very special one for Rufus and Bessie Burrell Minnieweather. On this first Saturday, they were blessed with a girl child. They named her Bernice.  On December 1, 2023, Bernice Minnieweather, as so many loved ones before her, joined that throng of family and friends, and went home to be with God.  She was 82.

Ms. Bernice, “Big Ma,” (as she was fondly called), loved spending time with her family.     She also LOVED collecting money. She had two favorite foods, fish and barbecue. When she had spare time, she loved to go fishing.  If asked, what was her favorite color, she would say, "pink."

She’s leaves to cherish her memories:  eight children.
