"A Virtuous Woman"
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil." Proverbs 31:30
Just what is a virtuous woman.? She is easily identified because she is a person who is humble yet confident in God, and who demonstrates a number of characteristics in her interactions with her family, community, and the world. She is supportive:an excellent supportive, and trusting wife. She is prayerful because she gives glory to God and praises Jesus for His sacrifice. She is diligent; hard-working and doesn't let laziness get in her way. She is wise, knowledgeable, and shares her wisdom to encourage others. She is responsible. mature, and makes sure her family is fed and clothed She tells the truth and thinks before she speaks . And, she is compassionate and prepares for the future.
All of these are characteristics of a young lady who was a credit to her family, her community, her God. Read her story and marvel at the beauty of one of God's gifts.
She was born in Schlater, MS; a very small community steeped in the rich culture of the Louisiana Delta. Folks in Schlater are farmers and love the blues. On June 14, 1933, Jessie McIntyre, a gentleman from Natchez, MS. and Burdia Richmond McIntyre became the parents of their fourth child; a baby girl. They named her Birdia. "A Virtuous Woman!"
Birdia graduated from Broykins High School in Schlater, MS. and Malcolm X Community College in Chicago, IL. "A Virtuous Woman!"
Her hobbies included gardening and fishing. When relaxing at home, she enjoyed Word Search games. She loved young children, delighting in how inquisitive they were; so full of questions about any and everything. "A Virtuous Woman!"
On the last day of 2024, December 31st, Birdia Lee Polk, went home to be with her God. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beautiful smile, and her love for all mankind: a grateful daughter, sister, family, friends. A community who is richer because Birdia Lee Polk was a part of their lives. "A Virtuous Woman!"
In the Bible, the Hebrew term for a virtuous woman is eshet-chayil, which translates to "virtuous woman" in the King James Version and "wife of noble character.
