"The Walking Man"
On December 23, 1962, Tuesday to be exact, a baby boy was born to Ms. Lonnie Estella Benton. He was given the name Booker Taliaferro Morrison, but fondly called Booker T. He was a very healthy, active, and outspoken child. He attended the schools of Morehouse Parish.
He loved watching television, playing football, singing, dancing, and cooking. He found salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of twelve. He loved traveling and enjoying seeing other towns and cities. Booker T. also loved banana pudding and drinking coffee.
He was the father of four boys and five girls. His brother, Jerry, remembered him having fun, and trying to outdance him during a family gathering. He also remembered the two of them enjoying the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints games together, playing dominoes, talking, and making jokes about each other.
His sister, Virginia Carol, remembered the two of them having fun, fussing, and fighting, but still loving each other. " We had many years of traveling, watching, and laughing about Tyler Perry movies. " Now, Booker T. also loved scary movies, but was afraid to go to sleep after watching the movies.
Booker T. loved to walk. He was often seen walking the streets of Bastrop. He walked EVERYWHERE! He was a family-oriented man. He especially loved spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Virginia Carol Wilson (Keith), his brother, Jerry Wayne Benton (Helen), and his nine children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
"We love you, Booker T, and will continue to remember you ALWAYS!''
