Calvin Henry Atkins "Shorty"

Visitation and Funeral Services for Calvin Henry Atkins will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  The service will begin at 11:00 a.m.   Rev. Mozell Smith, Jr. will serve as the officiant.  Interment will follow the services in H. V. Adams Cemetery. Tuesday, April 1, 1952, was a happy day for Roosevelt and Madie Atkins.  On this day, they were blessed with a boy child. He was given the name Calvin Henry.

Shorty, as he was called attended Morehouse High School, but integration changed the racial makeup of Morehouse Parish Schools and he graduated from Bastrop High School in 1970. An accident caused debilitating injuries to Calvin, but it did not diminish his love for sports. He especially loved football, but he loved fishing and hunting.  He delighted in a good game of dominoes and considered himself an expert at the game.

His family was the delight of his life, and they will forever love and cherish him.
