"The Songbird"
Psalm 127:3 – "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward."
It was the fourth Friday in March, 2000, that Niqueta Williams was blessed with a precious baby girl. in Bastrop, Louisiana. She was given the name Cameron Alexas Williams. And, so, the life of "The Songbird" began.
Now, Cameron was easy to please. Just as long the ground rules were followed. Those rules included: 1) Every FRIDAY, At exactly 4:30 p.m., Kenny and/or TT Faye delivered nuggets, fries, and a Dr. Pepper to Cameron.
2) On Sundays, an ICEE and chips were delivered to Cameron, 3) Meals, really good meals consisted of meat and rice. If these three things were done, life would be wonderful for Cameron. Her family and friends made sure that life was wonderful for her.
Music was Cameron's whole existence. She loved music. She loved music. She knew the names of hundreds of songs. If you named of a song and it was incorrect, Cameron would correct you. If she went to the doctor, Cameron was singing. If she was sitting on the front porch of her great grandmother's home, Cameron was singing. If she was sharing quality time with family and friends, Cameron was singing. She was "The Songbird." Her favorite song was "Precious Lord," by Mahalia Jackson. She loved hearing the choir singing from St. Timothy's church. She loved to hear Rev. Anderson preached, often remarking "Rev. Annerson" can really preach." Cameron had a special love for the saxophone. There was something special to her about the saxophone and the mystical sounds that came from it. Cameron was a proud member of the 2018 graduating class of Bastrop High School,
Cameron loved her family. Cameron had a best friend. She would call her MaDear, MuDear, Mamma. And Ida Lee Williams would softly answer. Cameron's best friend was her great grandmother, Ida Lee Williams, her confidant, her partner, her best friend. They would spend hours together, talking about life, listening to music, or singing her favorite song.
On last Tuesday, Cameron Alexas Williams, "The Songbird," quietly said goodbye to her earthly home, and traveled to that mystical land we call Heaven.
"Rest in Love sweet Songbird! Rest in Love!"
