“The Christmas Gift”
"The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe". Proverbs 18:10
It was just a few days before Christmas. Families were making their last-minute purchases, decorating their homes, and cooking in eager anticipation of Christmas Day. But, as the world prepared to celebrate a birth that occurred over 2,000 years ago, Marilyn Owens and Robert Earl Tucker were blessed with Christopher C. Avery. This beautiful baby boy made his advent into the world on December 22, 1970 with his loving grandmother lending assistance. Christopher C. Avery would leave his mark on the world and all he touched.
Chris’ educational career began in the schools of Morehouse Parish. OLHC (Our Lady Help of Christians), Henry V. Adams, and Bastrop Junior High West were his elementary schools. He was a proud member of Bastrop High School’s Class of 1990. He began his undergraduate studies at Grambling State University, but received his degree in General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. His thirst for additional knowledge in the medical field led him to pursue and receive an additional degree from Career Technical School, his Masters’ degree, and 1st year Ph. D in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.
A family man, a fierce protector of those he loved, Chris was a loving husband to his wife Yolanda, a devoted son to his mother, Marilyn, his step mother, Vera Tucker, and his mother in law, Cleola Ware. The ultimate nurturer, Chris was always desirous of making a home comfortable his children: Christopher, Gregory, Sean, Jermaine and Danielle, as well as his six grandchildren,
Chris was the ultimate beacon for truth, justice, righteousness, and order. From his initiation to his rise through the ranks to Imperial Deputy of the Desert Organization, Chris exemplified the qualities of the Prince Hall Masons. He served with distinction as a member of the Rayville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Upsilon Phi Delta Chapter honorary health care leadership society, and National Society of Leadership and Success. His love for the medical profession and his desire to serve his fellowman prompted him to serve as Night Supervisor for 18 years in Radiology at Ochsner Medical Center in Monroe prior to working in the medical travel industry.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Robert Tucker and his brother, Chad Avery.
On March 22, 2023, Christopher Avery heard a soft whisper from his Heavenly Father. He Answered! Amen! Amen!
