"A Wife, A Mother, A Friend"
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."
“A Virtuous Woman”
June 28 fell on a Tuesday in 1938. It was on this day in the small village of Mer Rouge, LA that Mary Jackson and Jessie Barber became the parents of their last baby. It was a beautiful little girl. They named her Della.
Education was important to Della's parents. She attended Sweet Home and St. Matthew (church schools). She also attended Morehouse Parish Training School and Union High School.
In 1957, on Christmas Day, Della Barber received an amazing gift in the person of a gentleman who had asked for her hand in marriage. Miss Della Barber became the beautiful Christmas bride of Mr. T. Author Robinson. They were blessed with four children: Lemuel, T. Author, Glenda, and baby girl, Daisy.
Della grew up in the church. When she was just a child, she joined the St. Matthew #2 Baptist Church. However, when she moved to Bastrop, she joined Second Baptist Church where she was a dedicated and faithful member. She served in many capacities at Second Baptist.
Della Barber Robinson was a very industrious lady. She was always busy. Whether serving as a school crossing guard, delivering home meals to senior citizens, a cook, a homemaker; she was never idle.
Missing her love, her guidance, her laughter, and her never ending supply of hugs are: her grateful and thankful children, her grand children and great grandchildren who she adored, her siblings, her church family, co-workers, family members and friends, who know that their lives were made richer because Della Barber Robinson passed their way.
On January 16, 2025 at Morehouse General Hospital, around 3:40 p.m. Della Barber Robinson caught a cloud and went home to be with her God.
“Oh, What A Reunion!”
“Oh, What A Reunion!”
“Oh, What A Reunion!”
"She looketh well to the ways of her household, And eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed!"
