The Homegoing Celebration for  Donald "Sonny" Britton, well-known citizen, will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.at the New Jerusalem #2 Baptist Church.  Rev. Tommy White will serve as the officiant for this service.  The  Visitation will be held in the chapel of Loche's Mortuary from four-six p.m. on Friday, June 5.  The interment will follow the service in H. V. Adams Cemetery. To send flowers, light a candle, or send words of condolence, kindly follow directions to your left.

"A Real Working Man"

 Camden, Arkansas was a bustling Ouachita County seat on August 6, 1951.  It was transitioning from a historic steamboat port into an industrial hub with timber mills and the Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot.  All of this sounds great as far as history goes, BUT to Willie and Juanita Britton it was much more important.  It was on this day that they were blessed with a boy child.  They named him Donald, but many folks lovingly called him "Sonny."  Even as a child, Sonny was known for his strong work ethic, independent spirit, vibrant personality, and love for life.

Now, Donald graduated from Harmony Grove High School. He attended UAPB, which is now the University of  Arkansas at Pine Bluff.  Donald always had a mind for business,  therefore he worked toward that degree.  He worked for a small store in Camden for a while, but eventually ended up at Safeway, a national chain store.  It was through his work at Safeway that he transferred to the store in Bastrop, Louisiana.

Donald always had the desire to own his own business.  While working for Safeway, he established a business of his own, the Quick Hand Car Wash. He prided himself in providing quality service to the residents of Bastrop.  Donald loved the Lord, and  united with the New Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Tommy White was his ministerial leader. 

For over twenty-five years, Donald was married to Teresa Parham Britton.  To this union, two sons were born.  They were his pride and joy.

Donald loved fishing and found great peace on the water.

On May 30th, with his loved ones surrounding his bed at St. Francis Medical Center, Donald "Sonny" Britton went home to be with his God.  Preceding him in death were his father, Willie Britton, his stepfather, George Green, and his brother, Danny Patterson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved mother, Juanita Green; his grateful sons, Sheldrick Britton and Shunderro Britton, his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the loves of his life, his siblings, his best friend and fishing buddy, Raymond Gill, other family members, and friends whose lives he touched.

Doand "Sonny" Britton left an indelible mark on the city of Bastrop, the parish of Morehouse, the state of Louisiana.  He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need, and priding himself in providing impeccable service to all of his customers.  Donald "Sonny" Britton.  "He was a Businessman; A Real Working Man."
