"The Caregiver"

"You should shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory." 1 Peter 5:2-4

It was on a Sunday, April 11, 1943, that Amelia Wonzo-Moses and James Moses became the parents of a baby girl.  Little did they know that this girl child would grow up and become "The Caregiver."  She would not be that "run of the mill" caregiver  that helped others and then went on her merry way.  She would be that caregiver" who would go above and beyond to help others.  She would be that caregiver who would leave the comforts of her own home to help those who were unable to care for themselves.  She would make little gifts for them, just to see them smile. She would spend days with family, friends, those she knew, and those she did not know, making them comfortable, bathing, clothing, feeding, and offering wise medical advice (old remedies) because that is what her God wanted her to do. On November 8, 2024 at St. Francis Medical Center, "The Caregiver" went home to be with her Caregiver.

Doricy Scott loved the Lord.  She would often share scriptures, stories, and advice with people she met.  She loved going to church.  She confessed her belief in Christ and accepted him as her Savior at Pearl Street Church of God.  She would later join Mt. Olive Methodist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing.  While living with her daughter in Patterson, LA, she was a part of the New Salem Baptist Church.  Doricy Scott loved church and took her job of ushering very seriously.  She offered her assistance at funerals, anniversaries, openings; wherever she was needed. Why? Because that is what her God wanted her to do.

Doricy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Scott, Sr., a grandson, and a great grandson.

Cherishing her memory, remembering her beautiful smile, and her caring spirit are her grateful children, Dora Scott and Mildred Clark, Patterson, LA, Patricia Clark, Leonard Clark, and Earl D. Scott, Las Vegas, NV; her five siblings: Virginia Moses-Greer, Houston, TX, James & Azelia Williams, California, Janie Anderson, Otis & Helen Moses, Delores Givens, Bastrop, LA; grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, many  friends who loved her dearly.

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7
