"They Called Her Dean"

“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”      Deuteronomy 6:5

It was a Friday in March in the small village of Collinston. Louisiana.  George and Mollie Hobbs eagerly awaited the birth of  their second child.  On the 25th day of March, their wishes were fulfilled, and Mollie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.  They named her Gloria Jean, but she was lovingly called "Dean" by family and friends.

Gloria loved the Lord.  When she was a little girl, she confessed this love and became a loyal and faithful member of Ollie Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Her love for God and her fellow man was evident in her kindness and gentle spirit.

Dean attended the public schools of Morehouse Parish and was employed by International Paper Company.

Gloria was married to a dapper gentleman for fifty-four years.  His name Willie Lee Wilson (Buddy Boy).  They were blessed with three girls: Felicia, Lashunda, and Leona.  Her nurturing spirit endeared her to her girls, but Gloria was also a doting grandmother, kind sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

She loved hanging out with her daughters, playing Bingo, and attending her grandchldren's  extra curricular activities.

On February 2, 2026, at her home on East 9th Street in Mer Rouge, Louisiana, Gloria Jean Hobbs Wilson (Dean), wife, mother,  grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and definitely a child of God, joined her parents, siblings, and grandchild in that land "where we never grow old."

"In That Land Where We Never Grow Old!"
