Graveside services for James Girtmon, well-known citizen and retired plumber will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at H. V. Adams Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Eddie Douzart, III will serve as the officiating minister. Visitation will be held in Loche's Mortuary, Chapel tonight, Friday, October 20, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. To send flowers, plants, light candles, please do so to your right.
The Master Plumber
James Richard Girtmon, the son of the late Richard Girtmon and Pearlie Brandon, made his descension into this world on August 16, 1945. On October 15, 2023, James Richard Girtmon, Sr. made his ascension from this world to join those who had gone on before including James Girtmon, Jr., James Johnson, Dewanda Wright, and his sister, Aristean Girtmon-Fields.
James Richard Girtmon, Sr. was the first African American Master Plumber in Morehouse Parish in 1969. As was the tradition he passed his trade down to the next generation.
He enjoyed watching westerns, hunting, and fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Johnnye R. Gardner Girtmon; his children: Lashay "Tootie" Girtmon- Bastrop, LA, Paxton (Catina) Girtmon-Flowood, MS, Paisha (Kenneth) Girtmon-Dacula, GA, Chadwick (Zowanda) Girtmon - Lake Charles, LA, Alejandro (Leateasha)Girtmon-Henderson, NV, and a sister, Pearlie B. Carthon. James' legacy will be cherished through memories by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and plumbing clients.
