A Beautiful Rose

God sent a rose, plucked from Heaven’s garden.

Her mission was simple; to reflect His glory,

and leave behind a beautiful story…

And She Did!

Each day, sunshine, or rain, she dazzled!

Adorned with a smile and a heart of servitude,

she gave to her community and family.

The Rose taught us how to bloom

To bloom in spite of adversity.

She taught us by faith to truly believe,

And with the help of the Lord,

we could be anything our minds’ conceived.

The Rose was resilient;

she will forever be remembered.

On a rainy Thursday in the small rural northeastern Louisiana hamlet of Bastrop, Louisiana,  Morrell and Ruth Spencer were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. The rain did not diminish their joy, however, because, on August 10, 1950, Linda Diane Spencer made her advent into the world. She was given the name "Linda,"  biblical  in nature, meaning "tender woman." Linda Diane Spencer would live a life that epitomized her name.

 She was blessed with so many admirable qualities and she freely shared her love of life with her family and friends alike. Her radiant smile would light up a room; but she believed in truth and fairness, and would not hesitate to tell you so.

In 1967 Linda was joined in holy matrimony with McArthur Bibby.  They were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Her name: Cathy. She attended Northeast Louisiana State University.

 Linda served as an educator in the Morehouse Parish School System for thirty-three years She touched the lives of hundreds of children.  Many would recognize her when she was out, remembering times that she made them feel special.  They would remind her of those times. She would look lovingly at them and flash her famous smile. She remembered!

Linda's greatest joy was spending quality time with her family.  She loved shopping; delighting in being impeccably dressed when she stepped out of her home.

 On November 23. 2021, God, in His infinite wisdom, felt that it was time to return this beautiful rose to His heavenly garden. She closed her eyes. And, she slept. 

Linda leaves a lifetime of memories for all who encountered her to cherish. Her legacy is continued by her daughter, grandchildren, and siblings.
