They Called Him “Hoodie”
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
John 14:27
On Monday, April 19, 1945, Fannie Neal and Sylvester McDaniel were blessed with their fourth son of seven children. To this child was given the name Louis Melvin. “Hoodie” as he was fondly called by family and friends alike, grew up in a family filled with love for God, family, and his fellowmen.
His devotion and love of his country were evident as he served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. As a decorated war veteran, Hoodie received several medals of commendation including a National Service Commendation, a Vietnam Conflict Medal, and Overseas Service Medal.
On February 14, 1970, Louis took unto himself a beautiful bride, Ms. Linda Jean Johnson, the love of his life. They were blessed with two sons, Louis Anthony and Omar Leon Terrell.
On March 10, 2022, Louis Melvin “Hoodie” McDaniel quietly transitioned from his earthly home "to land so bright and fair.
“He was not just a soldier. He was God's favorite son”
