Mae Joyce as she was called will be remembered as the daughter of William and Viliner Noble of Bonita. She attended Morehouse High School and decided, as many young people in her day, that she wanted to move North. And that she did. She moved from the small hamlet of Bonita to the bright lights and big city of Chicago. After her husband, Samuel Harges, passedl1983 she moved to Oakland, California to be near her mother and her siblings. After retirement in 1999, she moved back to Chicago. In 2017, she made yet another move and it was back to California. Travel was always an adventure for her. She loved to travel and did not mind boarding a plane to visit her daughter and other family members.
An avid baker, her cakes were moist and delicious. Her children and grandchildren were delighted when she came to visit for they knew she would share her delicious pound cakes, potato pies, peach cobblers, and other scrumptious delicacies. She also loved exercising. She loved her church and faithfully attended until her health began to decline.
Her infectious laughter, her wise counsel, and her caring heart will be missed by her children: Yvonne Diane Noble Hill-Smith of Bastrop, LA, Geraldine Harges, and Frederick Harges, Chicago, IL, and Sandy Harges in Lathrop, CA; three sisters: Esther Noble, Oakland, CA., Ruby Gray (Horace) of Tracy, CA, and Beatrice Noble of Oakland, CA; two brothers: David Noble of Tracy, CA and William Noble of Bastrop, LA; eleven grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43
