The Book of Mark

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  John 14:2 7 | NIV

Friday, November 17, 1978 was just a normal day for the residents of the Bastrop, LA.  Fall was in the air and Thanksgiving was just a few weeks away.  But for Lula Ramey, it was a very special day. She thanked God for everything He had given her and was about to give her. On this day, she was blessed with another boy child.  On this special November day, Joseph Disepany, Jr. and Lula Mae Ramey became the proud parents of a baby boy. To this child was given the name Mark Anthony Ramey.  On April 2, 2019 Mark Anthony Ramey, Sr. joined his parents, Joseph Disepany, Jr. and Lula Ramey, and his grandparents, John and Lille Ramey on that celestial shore  where “we never grow old.”

Mark attended the public schools of Morehouse Parish.  He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends.  His young life was spent playing with his siblings and his many many friends in the Straight Street neighborhood. Parents in the community looked out for the each other’s children. They would scold them if they were bad, feed them when they were hungry, and always give them words of advice and served as true role models.

Mark joined church at an early age joining the neighborhood church: Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.  Later on in life he moved his membership to the St. Timothy Baptist Church where he was a faithful and dedicated member until God called him home.

Mark liked all sports, but he LOVED football. When he entered Bastrop High School in 1993, he was determined to play football.  He secured a spot on the Freshman football team under Coach Jimmy Haynes. He loved being a Ram and was determined to make his Mark as a football Ram.  As he got older, he shared his love for football with his beloved New Orleans Saints.

Mark’s love for his family grew and expanded as he became a father. He enjoyed spending quality time with his siblings and his own children

He leaves to cherish his memory, his laughter, and his words of wisdom that he imparted to his children: two sons: Mark Collins and Mark Anthony Ramey, Jr.; Bastrop, LA, six daughters: Starlit Jimmerson, Marsha Smith, Zakejaia,  Kaniyah, Kayleah, and Kajoria Wilson (Bastrop, LA); two brothers: Claytis Thirdkill, Sr. (Rosie), and Jeffery Ramey (Madis) of Bastrop, LA; four sisters: Lillie Ramey, Lancaster, TX, Lori  Ramey and Jenise Ramey, Bastrop, LA, Veronica Coleman, Baton Rouge, LA; five nephews: Claytis Thirdkill, Jr., San Antonio, TX, Stavarius Ramey, Sr., Lancaster, TX, Eurtis Walker, Juan Miles, and Joshua Smith, Sr. Bastrop, LA; four nieces: Lekeshia Ramey Montgomery, (Leo Jr.) Whitney Armstrong, Bastrop, LA, Jessica Sizemore (Zach), Atworth, GA, and Amberly Hodges (Marrise), Monroe, LA, and a host of cousins and  "special friends."

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
