Mary Magdalene Jones Hill
Proverbs 31:28–29: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all."
It was on a warm spring day in March that Mary Magdalene Jones made her advent into the world. It was on a Monday, the eleventh to be exact, that Lucille Walker and Jeff Jones, Jr. celebrated her birth in Mer Rouge, Louisiana.
She attended the schools of Morehouse Parish and was married to the late Earl Hill, Sr. She was a housekeeper by profession. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her grateful children: Ronald Walker, Cassandra Walker, Earl Hill, Jr., Alvin Walker, and Debra Marlowe; her grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
"Our Mother's Garden"
Our Mother kept a garden, a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things that gave our lives their start.
She turned us to the sunshine and encouraged us to dream, Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self-esteem…
And when the winds and rain came, she protected us enough
But not too much because she knew we'd need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example always taught us right from wrong. Markers for our pathways that will last a lifetime long.
We are our Mother's garden. We are her legacy.
We know she felt our love and one day her face we'll see.
