A Quiet Hour honoring the life and legacy of Mrs. Mollie Mae Johnson, beloved Mer Rouge resident, will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Morehouse Education Association Building. The Ritual of the Eastern Star will occur immediately after the Quiet Hour.
Mollie’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Morehouse Education Association Building at 11:00 a.m. Pastor James Toney is the officiant. The Interment will follow at Little Dee Cemetery.
Mollie Mae Johnson was the eighth of nine children born on August 6, 1930, from her father and mother, Floyd Johnson and Alice Burrell-Johnson, in Mer Rouge, Louisiana.
Joe Louis Keys and Mollie Mae Johnson married on December 6, 1946, parented eight children and cherished 76 years as husband and wife.
Mollie’s love for children and passion for cooking led her to a career preparing meals for the Morehouse Parish School System in 1967, as a Certified Food Service Manager. She retired in 1986.
Mollie is a breast cancer survivor who demonstrated unrelenting faith in God, strength, and an unwavering ability to treat others with kindness and compassion.
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, God sent an angel to carry Mollie’s soul to an eternal life of happiness and peace.
Mollie leaves her rich legacy and cherished memories with her husband, Joe, their children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
