Frankie's Life Story
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” – Proverbs 31:28
Jones, Louisiana is a small community located along U. S. Route 165. It's about four miles northeast of Bonita, another small community in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. On Wednesday, July 12, 1939 in Jones, Louisiana, a small community located along U. S. 165, about four miles northeast of Bonita in Morehouse Parish, a momentous event took place. The day dawned hot as did all of the July days, but for West and Classie Christian, neither the location nor the temperature was of little importance. Classie Christian gave birth to their youngest of nine children. It was a beautiful baby girl and she was given the name, Frankie Jane. Oh, what a blessing! Oh, what a blessing!
Now, West and Classie reared all of their children in church. Professing her faith, Frankie joined St. Luke Baptist Church where she worked faithfully until moving to Bastrop in 1964. Following the Baptist Church Covenant, which says: "We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word," she united with Ivory Chapel Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many capacities including the Mother's Board. She eventually
reunited with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Even when she moved to Las Vegas, her ties with St. Luke remained strong. Following in the footsteps of her older siblings, Frankie attended Bonita Rosenwald Elementary School.
An excellent seamstress, Frankie was in constant demand by the ladies in her community. Her buttered rum pound cake and her homemade churned ice cream was in constant demand by children, grandchildren, members of the community, and those who had moved away, but had fond memories of those two delicacies.
After moving to Bastrop, Frankie met a handsome gentleman who she considered "the man of her dreams." His name, Eugene Mack,. They were united in holy wedlock. He preceded her in death after twenty-five years of marriage. Due to health reasons, and her desire to be close to family, she moved to Las Vegas in 2017 where she remained until God called her home.
Preceding her in death are her loving parents: West and Classie Christian, her beloved husband, Eugene Mack, Sr., her beloved daughter, Janice Christian, her oldest grandson, Julius Robbson, a great grandson Jatavius Carter; eight siblings: Cleveland Christian, Arlena Brown, Annie Mae Christian, Letha Bland, Erma McCloud, Rev. L. M. Christian, Norvell Christian, and Ethel B. Norris.
She leaves to cherish her memory and wise counsel, six grateful children; Shedrick Christian (Jackie), Gonzales, LA, Vanessa Wedlow (David), Orzarene Christian (Dennis), Las Vegas, NV, Walter Christian, Bastrop, LA, Leatha McClain (Robert), Eugene Mack, Jr. (Monserrat), Las Vegas, NV; twenty four grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren, and four great grandchildren she adored, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who consider themselves blessed because Frankie Jane Christian Mack touched their lives
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Frankie Jane Mack Christian, shed her earthly raiments, donned the cloak of immortality, and went home to be with her God. Amen! Amen! Amen!
“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” – Proverbs 31:31
