A Life Well Spent
O LORD, the king rejoices in your strength. How great is his joy in the victories you give! You welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him-- length of days, forever and ever. Psalm 21:1
******************************************************
Raymond Johnson was born to the union of Lee and Mattie Seay Johnson on September 3, 1941, in the small hamlet of Mer Rouge, Louisiana. He lived a life well spent; retiring from MaGruder Chemical Company where he was a Supervisor. He was married to Mrs. Cleothis Brown Johnson and they were the parents of one daughter, Ashanti Johnson.
“Ray,” as he was fondly called by family and friends returned home after retirement. He enjoyed all sports whether on television or at the game itself. He enjoyed the choir and served as a Deacon at the Eudora Missionary Baptist Church
Raymond served his country as a member of the United States Army for four years. On November 9, 2021, Raymond Johnson received his final honorable discharge and joined the ranks of those “Christian Soldiers,” who had gone on before him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mrs. Cleothis Johnson, his daughter, Ashanti, five sisters: Beethel Smittie. Kansas City, MO, Vera Taylor, Alexandria, VA, Mattie Jackson, Shreveport, LA, Annie Hampton and Altheria Willis of Dallas, TX., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
