"A Gentle Giant"
Friday, October 4, 1968, was a very special day for Jim Burnette and Alice Marie Jiles. On crisp fall day in Aurora, Illinois they became the parents of a baby boy. He was given the name Reginald Van Burnette. This baby boy would grow up to excel, athletically and academically. This baby boy would grow up, attend college, play football, and eventually touch the lives of so many young people, sharing with them the values that were instilled in him as he grew up in the small town of Rayville, LA.
Many will remember his gentle spirit, his powerful work ethic, and his desire to make life better for family and friends. Reginald V. Burnette was a "man among men." Young and old alike will always remember the "Gentle Giant" who made a difference in their lives.
