A Heavenly Songbird

"My heart is confident, God; I will sing; I will sing praises with the whole of my being. Wake up, harp and lyre! ... I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations."

Robin Lorraine Smith was born to the union of Samuel and Eloise Smith on December 20, 1961, a Wednesday in Bastrop, Louisiana. An early Christmas present for this young couple in Bastrop, Louisiana. Little did they know that this beautiful baby girl would be blessed by God with an angelic voice that would touch the hearts of many.  On November 2, 2021, this beautiful songbird flew away to be at rest; leaving the cares and pains of this world behind.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Robin LOVED to sing.  When she was younger, secular songs were popular and she could sing them when hanging with her friends or working around the house,  But the exhilaration that she felt when singing praises to God could not be matched.  When she was in the choir at the St John Missionary  Baptist Church she felt free and so close to God.

Robin attended the public schools of Morehouse Parish.  It was here that she met  Pamela and Yvette, and they would form a bond that would last her lifetime.  Robin never met a stranger.  Her radiant smile and her infectious laughter endeared her to members of St. John, her friends, her teachers, and members of the community.

On July 24, 2013, a young man came through the doors of St. John.  She "thought" she knew all the young men in Bastrop, but this one did not look familiar.  She was determined to find out who he was. She had caught his eye also. They were properly introduced, and a whirlwind courtship began. Exactly one year later, on July 24, 2014, Robin Lorraine Smith became Mrs. George Patrick Loche. Even though illnesses often plagued both of them, their faith in God and love of life afforded them opportunities to go on cruises, and to travel to different parts of the country., to care for her son, to meet to his son and daughter, and to bask in a love that would last forever.  She made him a better man. "She taught him how to love."   Blissfully happy, the young couple shared a love that would transcend the short time granted to them by God.

On November 2, 2021, with the love of her life holding her hand, Robin Lorraine Smith Loche, moved to another realm, a realm where pain is a thing of the past, and illness is but a distant memory.  A place where "The Heavenly Songbird " would join those loved ones who had gone on before; a place where one "never grows old."  "Sing Heavenly Songbird, Sing."

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
