A Celebration of Life
On a cloudy Saturday in February, 1990, the 17th to be exact, a precious little girl was born to Mary Alice Miller and Melvin Johnson. To this beautiful baby was given the name Shanteria Shena Miller, fondly called “Gully.” On a chilly morning in February, the 18th to be exact, Shanteria departed this life at her home. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Willie Davis and Claiborne Johnson.
Shanteria confessed her belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the New Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joe Lee Spencer.
She was a very loving, hardworking young lady. She loved caring for people. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She never met a stranger and touched the hearts of those she met.
Shanteria attended Bastrop High School. Always industrious, she later started working for Body and Soul where she worked for five years.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Mary Alice Miller Jones (Virgil), her father, Melvin Johnson (Hope), her children: Travion Miller, Kendra Scott, and Gloria Miller; her grandmothers: Bernice Miller (Doll), Dallas, TX and Mary Dean Miller, New Orleans, LA; six sisters: Tasheka Miller, Sterlington, LA, Lakeita Miller and Daquisha Miller, Bastrop, LA, Dezarae Johnson, and Destiny Johnson, Mer Rouge, LA; two brothers: Cartarius Miller and LaMario Miller, Bastrop, LA; one step brother, D’Wailen Dickerson (Ebony), and one stepsister Debbie Dickerson; one special aunt, Ramona Johnson; three special friends: Victoria Gibson, Shaquista Tolbert, and April Levingston, a a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
