A "Celebration of Life" honoring the life and legacy of Simmie Johnson, Sr, well-known area citizen will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Little Dee Missionary Baptist Church.  Rev. James Toney will serve as the officiant.  The Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, August 28, 2026, from four until six p.m. in the chapel of Loche's Mortuary.  To send flowers, words of condolence, or light a candle, kindly follow the directions to the left.

"For His Family"

June 9, 1954, was a warm summer Wednesday in the small Louisiana village of Mer Rouge.  It was on this day that Albert and Lena Johnson were with a boy child.  They named him Simmie.

Simmie grew up in a home filled with love and a strong faith in God.  He was a proud member of Delta High School's Class of 1972.  

Simmie was a family man in the truest sense of the word.  He was employed by International Paper Company until his retirement.  He was so proud of his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them.

A real sports enthusiast, Simmie loved watching baseball.  Cheering for his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers  was one Simmie's favorite pasttimes. Simmie loved home cooked meals especially barbecue.  A real conversationalist, he delighted in spending time with his children,  grandchildren, and friends.  Traveling the state of Louisiana was also a favorite of Simmie's.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Simmie, Jr. and Rayshawn (his loving daughter-in-law, Ashley Danielle),  grandchildren:KayLii, Asiah, Ashtyn, and Avery; his siblings: Myrtle Johnson, Albert Johnson, Jr., Darnel Johnson, Claudia Harris, cousins, and friends.  They will always remember:
