"Clean Sheen Bean"
"The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way." Psalm:37:23
Thursday, March 7, 1940 may have been uneventful to other residents of the small northeastern hamlet of Mer Rouge, Louisiana, but for Sylvester and Fannie McDaniel, it was a very special day. On this day they were blessed with their first born of seven children. He was given the name Willie Edward.
Sylvester and Fannie were God-fearing parents. They taught their children to love the Lord and they believed in the dignity of hard work. Willie and his siblings sang in their church choir and he worked on the family farm. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ. As a young man, Willie worked hard and faithfully saved his money because he loved to "dress. " This passion earned him the name of "Clean Sheen Bean." He was especially partial to hats and made sure they coordinated with whatever he was wearing.
Willie was a proud member of Union High School's Class of 1961. On January 8, 1964 he married the love of his life, Eva, and they were blessed with six children: Ronnie, Darren, Terry, Sharon, DeShenik, and Latisha. Their lives were centered around their children. They instilled in them the love for God, dignity of work, and compassion for their fellowman.
Willie was employed by Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill for some forty years. He enjoyed taking leisurely walks through his neighborhood; making it a practice of checking on his neighbors. He could often be seen picking up trash as he walked. This dedication earned him recognition by the City of Bastrop.
On December 30, 2024, Willie Edward McDaniel shed his garment of mortality, donned his garment of immortality and went home to be with his God. He leaves to cherish his memory: his grateful children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will always remember the dapper gentleman, stylishly dressed, with a winning smile:
