Bishop Alex Lee Odom

Funeral Services for Rev. Alex Odom, 73, retired pipeliner, of Bonita will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. James Toney will be the officiating minister. Interment will be in St. Luke Cemetery in Bonita. Wake Services will be held at Full Gospel Ministry on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. Loche's Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Born March 8, 1943 in Bonita, Louisiana to Mrs. Leola Hill Odom and the late James Levell Odom, he was the oldest of twelve children. His father, James Odom and one brother, Earnest I.Odom preceded him in death. On June 15, 2016 at approximately 3:40 a.m. Alex went home to be with the Lord.

Alex accepted Christ at an early age at the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. H. E.Smith. He received his education in the public schools of Morehouse Parish. However, before completing  high school, he moved away to Fairbanks and then to Anchorage, Alaska. Alex was employed and retired as an employee of the Alaska Laborers Construction Industry.

In May 1972, Alex was united in holy matrimony to the late Edna Ree Russell of Anchorage, Alaska. This union was blessed with a son, James Willis, who God allowed Alex the privilege of rearing as his own.

In the mid 70's Brother Odom was called to the ministry. A few year later, he came the pastor of the "Ephesians Church of God in Christ" in Alaska. After retirement, he relocated to Atlanta, GA. On January 2, 2007, Brother Alex was solemnly and publicly set apart and consecrated to the work of "Bishop" by the orders of the International Full Gospel Christians Alliaance in Sacramento, CA.

In 2012, Bishop Odom made the decision to return home to Bonita, LA and reunited with the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.  He remained a faithful member until his passing. While living in Bonita, Bishop Odom organized "The Full Gospel Ministry Church," where he was the faithful and devoted pastor.

Bishop Odom leaves to cherish his memories, a loving mother, Mrs. Leola Hill Odom, four brothers, Emmitt Odom, Sr. (Lenzie) of Bastrop, Ivory James Odom (Alice) of Florissant, MO, Theabury Odom, Sr. (Linda) of Bastrop, LA, and Michael Odom of Indiana; seven sisters sisters: Dessie Dantzler (Samuel) of Inglewood,CA  Bernate Toney (James), Bastrop, LA, Carlette Toney (Tommie), Bastrop, Alice Stewart (Roan), Homewood, IL, Alma Montgomery, (Eddie) Bastrop, LA, and Teretha Pierson of Bastrop, LA, and Wilette Banner of Chicago, IL, one son, James Willis of Anchorage, Alaska, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
